Fused by her inspiration from the German Expressionists and Post-Impressionists, Rosalie calls herself a Modern Expressionist.
For her, painting and creating is a journey to an unknown destination where she can release her true feelings.
Rosalie uses line, color, and texture to show a connection to who we are and where we are going. Her paintings evoke an emotion or story which the viewer can interpret through movement and form. Some of her series of paintings evoke an expression of time that has long been forgotten.
Her representative work includes portraits of people painted in 1920's Parisian fashion as well as abstract paintings exploiting current social issues.
Rosalie has been working in mixed media for over 20 years, using clay, gesso, sticks, leaves, and other natural materials to enhance her paintings and give texture to them.
She also creates original one-of-a-kind vintage bags which were designed when she was recovering from breast cancer. She loves to use vintage fabric, old jewelry pieces, lace, and other found objects to put together these artistic bags. When each bag is finished, she cleverly names them. Each bag is a unique design and she never duplicates the style. Rosalie has created and sold hundreds of bags since 2006, a testament to her fortitude and an inspiration to other cancer survivors.
Rosalie has been an active artist for many years and has been represented in many fine galleries and boutiques throughout California since 1999.
